Sharp pain that goes away quickly is most often associated with a fractured tooth

that flexes the dental nerve that elicits the quick sharp pain. These symptoms

4. Did the pain wake you up at night and is the tooth throbbing?

This indicates the the damage to the tooth is deeper and involves the nerve

and the blood vessels of the tooth. Help is needed immediately due to the pain
